Privacy Policy

Draft for legal review. This policy is published for app-store and sign-in setup during private testing. It will be reviewed by Tanzanian counsel before public launch.

This policy explains how EJLI Innovations LLC ("we", "us"), the company behind the Kutana Up app and kutanaup.com, collects, uses and protects your personal data. Kutana Up is for adults aged 18 and over.

1. Who is responsible

EJLI Innovations LLC, United States, is the data controller. For any privacy question or request, email privacy@kutanaup.com.

2. What we collect

Some of this data is sensitive under the Tanzania Personal Data Protection Act, 2022, including information about your sex life or preferences, religion (faith importance) and biometric data (face comparison for verification). We ask for your explicit consent before collecting it, and you can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the data or your account.

3. How we use your data

Run the service: your profile, discovery, matching, chat and notifications.
Safety: automatic checks on photos for nudity and on messages for common scam patterns (for example requests for money), human review of reports, and banning members who break our rules. Automated checks never decide on their own that someone is a scammer; a person reviews before any ban.
Verification, if you choose it.
Support, service messages, and improving the app using aggregated statistics.
Legal obligations, including responding to lawful requests and reporting child sexual abuse material to the authorities.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not show third-party advertising.

4. What other members see

Other signed-in members can see your first name, age, city, approximate distance, bio, relationship goals, interests, approved photos, compatibility score with them and your Selfie Verified badge. They cannot see your email, date of birth, exact location or questionnaire answers. Members you block cannot see you at all.

We use these providers to run Kutana Up. They process data only on our instructions:

6. Transfers outside Tanzania

Our servers are outside Tanzania, mainly in the United Kingdom. We transfer data only with the safeguards required by the Personal Data Protection Act and its regulations, including authorization from the Personal Data Protection Commission where required, and contracts with our providers that protect your data.

7. How long we keep data

8. Your rights

You can access, correct or delete your data, withdraw consent, object to processing, and ask for a copy of your data. Most of this you can do in the app (edit profile, delete photos, delete account). For anything else email privacy@kutanaup.com; we reply within 30 days. You may also complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission of Tanzania. Members in the UK or EU have equivalent rights under UK and EU data protection law.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access between members is enforced by database security rules, staff access is limited and logged, and photos have location data removed on your phone before upload. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

10. Age limit

Kutana Up is only for people aged 18 and over. We block sign-ups that give an age under 18 and remove accounts we believe belong to minors. Report a suspected minor to safety@kutanaup.com.

11. Changes

We will notify you in the app before material changes take effect.
